What is Reiki?
By taking Reiki I, you will begin (or continue) to awaken to the energies in your own body and those around you. Reiki is a pathway to living in harmony.
Reiki is one of the more widely known forms of energy healing. Energy Healing involves direct application of Chi for the purpose of strengthening the energy system. Chi (or qi) is the term used by the Chinese for our basic life force energy, and ki is the Japanese spelling of the word. The word "Reiki" is translated as “Universal Life Force Energy.”
Reiki is very easily learned, very simple to use, and beneficial for all. A Reiki session is very simply performed. Once someone has been attuned to the Reiki energy, the person places his or her hands on or slightly above the person to be healed with the intent for healing to occur, and the energy begins flowing. All this happens without direct conscious intervention by the practitioner. The Reiki practitioner's “job” is to get out of the way, to keep the Reiki healing space open, and to watch/listen for signs of what to do next.
What can I expect from a Level I Reiki class?
The Reiki class will begin with a simple guided meditation to help center you and focus your intentions on healing both yourself and others.
We will discuss the history of Reiki, and it is also recommended that you read one of the many fine books on the history of Reiki that are widely available now. When you sign up, we can recommend several Reiki books.
You will receive a Reiki attunement to begin to channel the First Level of Reiki energy. In the Usui Reiki system there are three levels. The Reiki attunement is a very powerful experience in itself.
You will be taught the basic Reiki hand positions to work on yourself and another person, and then have plenty of time to practice Reiki under the supervision of the teachers.
Teachers
Mary is a traditional Usui Reiki Master-Teacher as well as a Shamanic Reiki Master and a Master Shapeshifter who has studied shamanism with several teachers. Mary is a student of world religions and has a master’s of theological studies. She believes many paths lead to the divine and is founder of Many Paths Way.
Jennifer Walz is a licensed accupunturist and traditional Usui Reiki Master-Teacher who has been working in the holistic healing field since 1987. She also works extensively with helping people cross, having received certification as a Bereavement Facilitator through the American Academy of Bereavement.
